Black Culture Market

Black Culture Market was established to celebrate black culture and commerce in the local community. The event gives entrepreneurs of all ages of African and Caribbean descent visibility for them to flourish and make cultural products more accessible. With just 0.24% of capital in the UK going to black entrepreneurs (0.02% to black female entrepreneurs) access to early-stage capital is limited. BCM aims to bridge the gap by encouraging communities to shop small with black-owned businesses. However, there is more to BCM than just an event, the value goes far beyond its pop-ups. At the core of its offering, the platform brings the opportunity for great systemic advancement for African and Caribbean communities and those seeking to develop their businesses. Next Event: Sat 2nd & 3rd Dec 2023 - www.blackculturemarket.co.uk

The Lyn Valley Dog House

I run a small dog shop in the coastal Lynton, North Devon. As an independent, small business, I am able to source from other small businesses to ensure that my customers are able to have a wide range of goodies for their dog. Due to the seasonality of our towns, I have had to look at alternative ways to promote our business. Alongside my website, we also create Welcome Boxes for local hotels and B&B's. We also have a group of loyal subscription owners who receive a treat box each month. We are due to close our small shop next week and move to a large shop 25 steps to the right! It has enabled us to have a room dedicated to treats for your dog or cat including a wide range of natural treats, a bakery and our new ice cream parlor with many different flavours. There will also be a room showcasing the best eco friendly, or local dog collars, leads, blankets and our favourite jumpers, coats, bowls etc. The Lyn Valley Dog House will also be joined by Beth for Rylun Dog Grooming on a part time basis to enabl

Y Beic Chai/The Chai Bike

Y Beic Chai/The Chai Bike is a small independent business with the communi-tea at its heart. A local girl, Sally, makes masala chai from her home kitchen, spices are dry roasted daily and infused with fresh ginger, milk, tea and honey. This tongue-tingling brew is then decanted in to a thermos for trading. Sally is committed to keeping the carbon output of her business as low as possible and transports her tea via an e-cargo bike. She is a mobile business and can trade off her bike which acts as a pop-up cafe. Often dressed in bright pink Sally is surely a sign to look out for. You might see her catering community events in the bandstand, along the promenade or in town. Just remember if you see a flash of pink a good brew is not far away!
