This year Small Business Saturday is once again highlighting 100 small businesses, one a day for the 100 days leading up to Small Business Saturday 2019.

For the last six years, the 100 have not only received exposure on Small Business Saturday's social media channels and in the local and national press, but also joined the Small Business Saturday team in London at receptions in Downing Street, House of Lords and the Treasury Drum with the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

The ethos of The Butchers Social is all about fine dining without the façade; through a delicately crafted menu and clever interior design, chef-owner Mike Bullard has created a concept that puts The Butchers Social on the map.

Products are ethically sourced and environmentally friendly. Customers bring their own containers, and buy as much or as little as they need.

Today’s #SmallBiz100, Cattermole, is a family business which specialises in the repair, servicing, and sale of kitchen appliances. However, since becoming a #SmallBiz100, their director, Adam Cattermole, who is 36 and has three young children, has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of bowel cancer. The treatment which could prolong his life is no longer available on the NHS due to the high cost: it costs £20,000 per round, and he may require up to 20 rounds. So rather than telling you about Adam’s business, today we’ll be sharing information about his fundraising, and inviting the whole of the small business community to get behind him. Founded by Hadi in 2011, Rays Ice Cream focus on using quality ingredients to make delicious hand made ice cream. Rays Ice Cream sell via their own two shops in Swindon and Royal Wootton Bassett and this summer they have had a pop up shop in the local Designer Outlet Village. They have mobile units for selling at weddings and events locally.

Increasingly Rays Ice Cream are selling wholesale to other businesses within about an hour of Swindon including restaurants, desserts shops and hotels. This is an area of the business that they are hoping to grow and they are currently looking for a food service distributor to work with.

The environment has a huge impact on the way they work and are a single use plastic free business and hope to become completely plastic free within the next 3-5 years.
